How We Started
Having worked with porcelain slabs since 2014, The Porcelain Slab Co.'s owner Nathan Parsons knew the market needed a solution for qualified labor and skilled leadership to fulfill the needs of the North Carolina market.

"I've seen the growth in porcelain from my first training and sale in 2014. The market has matured. When I looked around and there was no company dedicated to working with porcelain slabs in a way that met the standards and norms required, I saw potential. I was getting too many calls to help so it made sense to start my own business again.." Thus in 2023, he departed his manager role running one of the largest stone countertop shops in Raleigh to embark on growing a porcelain centric operation.

"It was a fantastic decision. The need in the marketplace was huge and it was great to fulfill it," says Parsons. "Knowing we could bring more options, colors, and methods than anyone else at a price point that few could compete has been rewarding."

With a permanent location based in Rocky Mount, Parsons knows the future is bright for the niche portion of the surface market. Parsons continues, "Porcelain slabs continue to grow in popularity. The patterns continue to improve but one thing has stayed the same, the need for experienced installers and fabricators. We aim to solve that problem with our shop in Rocky Mount that allows us to service all of North Carolina and eastern Virginia. It doesn't matter if it's countertops, floors, showers, or walls, we will get the job done."

A Commitment to Rocky Mount, NC
For owner Nathan Parsons, seeing the potential has been his professional calling card. "I saw the potential of porcelain slabs back in 2014 and now it's an industry. I look at Rocky Mount North Carolina and I see potential. It is a city that was once the bustling center of the region. We want to help it regain some recognition."
With this view in mind, The Porcelain Slab Co. made the decision to move into warehouse space in historic downtown Rocky Mount. Parsons adds, "It just made sense. The city wanted us there to bring unique jobs. The buildings are beautiful. They are timeless. Just like the material we work with, our installations are timeless and modern. We hope to help modernize downtown Rocky Mount."
Plans are underway to redevelop the properties owned by The Porcelain Slab Co. into a state of the art showroom and office space. Encompassing 10-thousand square feet in buildings built in the 1940's along a historic street in downtown, The Porcelain Slab Co. hopes to open the showroom to the public mid-2025.
